Marie Curie, a national end-of-life charity, is calling on residents across South Wales to get creative in the kitchen and support families facing terminal illness. The organisation has launched a brand new baking challenge, 'Let's Bake!', to raise vital funds for its specialist community healthcare teams.
From hosting office cake sales to running cupcake decorating contests, every event will help raise money for nursing care. Anyone who registers for the challenge will receive a free fundraising pack containing a special daffodil cake stencil, step-by-step guides, posters, and cake flags to help make their local baking event a success.
Funds Support Community Nursing and Helpline
The charity relies heavily on public donations to keep its community nurses visiting local patients inside their own homes. Funds raised through the challenge will also help maintain a free phone support service that provides practical advice, symptom guidance, and bereavement care.
Marie Curie healthcare workers support individuals living with conditions including dementia, heart failure, motor neurone disease, and cancer. The new baking initiative aims to engage supporters of all skill levels in fundraising activities that directly benefit these services.
Charity Encourages Bakers of All Abilities
Hannah Warner Holt, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser, said: “Whether you’re a baking beginner or a pastry perfectionist, Marie Curie has everything you need to bake a difference and raise vital funds for expert end of life care.”
She continued: “You can host your own bake sale or ask friends, family or work colleagues to give you a hand in the kitchen - and we’ll support you with every step.”
She concluded: “By taking part in the ‘Let’s Bake!’ fundraiser, you will be helping ensure that Marie Curie Nurses and healthcare professionals can continue to provide expert care and support to people at the end of life, and their families, whatever their illness, wherever they are.”
