Martha Trust Raises £255k+ for Holistic Care in Kent & Sussex
Martha Trust's Festive Fundraising for Disability Care

In the heart of Kent and East Sussex, a vital charity is ensuring that adults with the most profound disabilities receive more than just basic care. Martha Trust, which operates two homes on the Deal–Sandwich Road in Kent and another in Hastings, East Sussex, is dedicated to offering a lifetime of nurturing, holistic support.

Beyond Basic Care: The £255,000 Annual Funding Gap

While local authorities fund essential nursing care, Martha Trust must raise more than £255,000 every single year to bridge a critical funding gap. This money is not for mere existence; it provides the life-enhancing extras that transform care. The funds pay for specialist equipment, sensory technologies, educational activities, and the crucial maintenance of their welcoming homes.

Kerry Banks BEM, the fundraising and events manager, emphasises the difference this makes: "We simply could not exist and offer the services we do for our amazing residents without the support of our incredible communities." She adds that this collective effort enables the high-quality, proud care Martha is known for.

A Season of Community and Celebration

The festive period has been a bustling and joyous illustration of this community support in action. Activities have included a Christmas Fayre and a special collaboration with Sandwich Community Lights for the Music4Martha Christmas Lights Switch On event last month.

This month, the charity held its annual Carol Service at St George's Church and enjoyed festive activities and nativity celebrations within their homes. Adding a touch of magic, the residents were delighted by a visit from Queen Elsa, portrayed by Daisy Hewett.

Volunteers from groups like the Superior Healthcare Group joined Martha staff at events, while Santa and his elves spread cheer at the fayre, showcasing the deep local engagement.

How You Can Support This Lifeline

To continue its indispensable work, Martha Trust relies on ongoing public generosity. Individuals can make a sustained impact by becoming a regular donor through their website. Furthermore, for those seeking a meaningful career change, the trust lists current job opportunities where staff can make a tangible difference every day.

As Kerry Banks concludes: "A HUGE thank you to everyone that has supported us over the year, and especially this Christmas!" The trust's mission continues, ensuring that vulnerable adults are nurtured in a safe, loving, and stimulating environment all year round.
