The family of a man fatally stabbed outside his home in Hodge Hill say they are left with 'broken hearts'. Zeshaan Shaukat, aged 34, was attacked on Ashville Avenue at around 11.50pm last Tuesday (August 25) and died in hospital three days later.
Arrests and Investigation
Seven people have been arrested as part of the investigation. Two remain in custody on suspicion of murder, while a third is held on suspicion of assisting an offender. Four others have been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Police will exercise stop and search powers tonight (September 1) in the area, according to West Midlands Police.
Family Tribute
In a tribute, the family said Zeshaan was 'incredibly loved' and his loss has left a space 'that can never be filled'. They said: "Our beloved Zeshaan was murdered outside our family home, a place where he and our family should have felt safe. The pain and devastation this has caused our family is impossible to put into words."
They added: "Zeshaan was so much more than a brother and a son. He was a huge part of our family, and his presence, his personality, and the memories we shared with him will remain with us forever. He was incredibly loved by the whole community. He meant so much to all of us, and his loss has left a space in our family that can never be filled. Losing him so suddenly and tragically is something we cannot begin to describe. Zeshaan, you were loved more than you could ever have known. You have left behind a family with broken hearts."
Appeal for Information
Jenny Birch, overseeing the investigation, said: "It’s now been a week since the attack on Mr Shaukat, and our investigation has made good progress. We are still keen to hear from anyone with information about what happened, or footage from the area, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
