Men United in Song: Cardiff Charity Choir Challenge for Prostate Cymru
Men United in Song: Cardiff Choir Challenge for Prostate Cymru

An ambitious charity fundraising challenge is launching in Cardiff this autumn, offering men the chance to form a scratch choir over nine weeks and perform on stage for Prostate Cymru. Organisers are seeking about 50 men to join 'Men United in Song – Cardiff 2026,' with no prior singing experience required.

What the Challenge Involves

Participants will learn eight songs during weekly rehearsals, culminating in a performance at the Dora Stoutzker Hall in Cardiff on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in front of a paying audience. The initiative aims to raise funds for Prostate Cymru while giving men an opportunity to learn singing, make new friends, and become charity fundraising heroes. Places are limited, and applications are now being accepted.

A previous participant commented: "What a great experience: I would do it all again in a heartbeat!"

How to Join

A 30-minute introductory session can be booked via the website at www.menunitedinsong.info, where more information is also available. Weekly rehearsals throughout September and October will be held on Tuesday evenings at Cardiff High School from 7pm to 9pm.

Origins and Impact

'Men United in Song' originated in Peterborough and has been run across the UK as a fundraising challenge. This marks its first event in Cardiff. Each project is hosted by a different existing choir, which provides administrative support. Some previous projects have raised more than £35,000 for charity.

The host choir for Men United in Song – Cardiff 2026 is Côr Meibion De Cymru. The group recently raised more than £15,000 for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru with their innovative 'Ten Bandstands' challenge, which saw singers performing 10 mini-concerts at bandstands across South Wales in one day.
