Transport technology company Microlise has raised £24,000 for charity through its fourth annual Transaid Cup, held at Ilkeston Town FC's New Manor Ground. The seven-a-side football tournament brought together 16 teams from the UK transport and logistics sector, including squads from GXO, Trent Barton, and Michelin, alongside two teams from Microlise itself.
Tournament Winners and Runners-Up
After a day of competitive matches, Scania emerged as the Transaid Cup 2026 champions, while Iron Mountain claimed the runners-up trophy.
Fundraising Impact
The £24,000 raised will directly support Transaid's international development work across sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on road safety, professional driver training, and sustainable transport systems in countries including South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, and Kenya. Since the tournament's inception in 2023, the Transaid Cup has raised over £73,000, contributing to Microlise's broader fundraising efforts for the charity.
Partnership and Community Support
Microlise has supported Transaid since 2015 and co-founded the cup tournament with Libra Europe in 2023. Ilkeston Town FC donated their ground for free, ensuring all proceeds go directly to charity. Beyond the tournament, Microlise raises funds through events like the Microlise Transport Conference and an annual Charity Golf Day in partnership with JCB, along with employee personal challenges.
Quotes from Organisers
Andree Ball, Transaid ambassador at Microlise, said: "Another fantastic Transaid Cup has shown what our industry can achieve when we come together behind a common cause. The standard on the pitch was impressive, but it's the impact off it that really matters. We're proud to have supported Transaid for more than a decade, and every pound raised through events like this helps fund projects that save lives, improve road safety and strengthen transport networks in the communities that need them most. A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in making this year's tournament such a success."
Caroline Barber, chief executive at Transaid, added: "Partnerships like this play a vital role in enabling Transaid to continue its work improving road safety and access to transport across sub-Saharan Africa. We're incredibly grateful to Microlise, everyone who took part in the Transaid Cup and all those who donated. Every contribution helps us improve lives and strengthen communities."
