A man has been charged with murder more than one year after an alleged disturbance in Staffordshire. Ivan Takev, 38, died following an incident in Trent Vale, Stoke, on March 10, 2025. Police were called to Lymebrook Road just after 4pm, and Takev was pronounced dead shortly after.
Charges Filed 15 Months Later
Charles Lewis, 47, of Liverpool, has been charged with murder and will appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on August 24. He appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre via videolink on Wednesday, June 10, after being charged.
Police Statement
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A man has appeared in court charged with murder. Charles Lewis, 47, of Liverpool, who is British, appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre via videolink yesterday after he was charged with the murder of Ivan Takev in Trent Vale last year. We were called at 4.05pm on March 10, 2025, to reports of a disturbance at a house on Lymebrook Place. Sadly, Ivan Takev, 38, was pronounced dead a short time later. Specialist officers are continuing to support Ivan's family. Lewis has been remanded and is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 24 August."
The case has drawn attention due to the significant time between the incident and the charge. Police have not released further details about the nature of the disturbance.
