The High Street in Chapel-en-le-Frith has welcomed a vibrant new addition to the local community, as the latest Lighthouse Charity Shop officially opened its doors to eager shoppers. The grand opening was a true community affair, with Chapel Parish Councillor Tony Dales joining children from Chapel-en-le-Frith C of E VC Primary School to perform the official ribbon-cutting honours. Operated by Derbyshire charity Valley CiDS, the new branch welcomed local residents alongside enthusiastic staff and volunteers, all eager to showcase the high-quality pre-loved items now available on the high street.
Fundraising for Vital Local Services
The shop will raise vital funds to fuel Valley CiDS' work with local children, young people, and families. The charity provides essential support through school initiatives, out-of-school clubs, youth and community work, and specialised alternative education projects for young people struggling to access mainstream learning. Through its youth project, Blend, the charity already works extensively across the High Peak, including Buxton, Glossop, and New Mills.
Speaking at the launch, Ian Tannahill, CEO of Valley CiDS, said: “We are excited to be opening our new Lighthouse Charity Shop in Chapel-en-le-Frith.
