Pass Go for GRIT: Monopoly-Inspired Fun Run in Hitchin This Summer
Pass Go for GRIT: Monopoly-Inspired Fun Run in Hitchin

The multi award-winning charity Growing Resilience in Teens (GRIT) invites Hitchin’s businesses, families and community groups to take part in Pass Go for GRIT, a self-guided, Monopoly-inspired town-wide treasure hunt on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Hitchin town centre. The event aims to raise vital funds for young people’s mental health.

Event Details and How It Works

Open to walkers, joggers and runners aged 15 and over, the self-guided route is designed for friends, families and business teams. Participants collect their board at the registration point in Hitchin town centre and set off to visit a series of participating local businesses and organisations. Hidden in each window is a letter. Collect them all, rearrange them to reveal a mystery sentence, and race back to the finish line. The fastest person or team with the correct answer wins.

The fun event starts and finishes in the heart of Hitchin at Hitchin Priory Hotel. A spokesperson from Hitchin Priory Hotel said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Pass Go for Grit fun run on July 12. Our beautiful venue is set in tranquil grounds and parkland in the town centre, which makes it the perfect location for families, business colleagues and friends to meet before and after the event. GRIT is a great charity that supports many local young people, and we are pleased to offer our support for this fundraiser.”

Matched Funding Doubles Impact

Thanks to a match funding partnership with Helping Herts, every pound raised through ticket sales, sponsorship and fundraising will be matched pound for pound, meaning entry fees, sponsorship and donations go twice as far in supporting young people across Hertfordshire.

About GRIT Charity

GRIT is a Hitchin-based, multi award-winning charity that has supported approximately 1,500 young people aged 11-24 since 2018. Through a unique combination of group programmes, workshops, one-to-one coaching and non-contact boxing, GRIT gives teenagers the tools they need to build confidence, resilience and emotional strength. The charity’s capacity has grown by an average of 83 per cent over the past three years, a testament to the demand for and impact of its work.

All funds raised through Pass Go for GRIT will directly support GRIT’s programmes for local young people. A charity spokesperson added: “Pass Go for GRIT is a brilliant way to bring the whole community together, whether you’re a family looking for a fun Sunday out, a group of friends up for a challenge, or a local business wanting to make a real difference. With every pound being matched, the impact of your entry or sponsorship is doubled. We can’t wait to see Hitchin come out and support our young people.”

Sponsorship Opportunities

As well as entrants, GRIT is actively seeking local businesses to get involved as sponsors. Sponsorship offers a fantastic opportunity to raise your profile in the community, demonstrate your commitment to young people’s mental health, and be part of a memorable town event. Businesses can also enter their own teams, making Pass Go for GRIT a brilliant team-building day with a genuine charitable purpose.

The event has already gained support from a number of corporate partners and sponsors including Iris House, Ultim8 Fitness, Veloce Club, Hammered and The Sun Hotel, as well as main sponsor, Modern Networks. James Tizzard, managing director of Modern Networks said: “Modern Networks has been part of the Hitchin community for over 25 years, and many of our team live and work locally, with families of their own. That makes the work GRIT does to support young people especially meaningful to us. We’re proud to be sponsoring the Monopoly 10k Run and helping to raise awareness of the fantastic work GRIT delivers across the community.”
