A North Northamptonshire hospice charity has received a significant funding boost to enhance its vital bereavement support services for local families. Cransley Hospice Trust, based in Kettering, has secured a generous £5,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Midlands through its Community Champions initiative.
Supporting Specialist Palliative Care
The Kettering-based charity provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people across North Northamptonshire, offering compassionate support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. The organisation combines expert medical care with dignity and emotional support during challenging times.
Enhancing Bereavement Services
The substantial donation will specifically help develop the charity's bereavement programme, including The Hummingbird Bereavement Service launched in summer 2025. This service supports patients with life-limiting illnesses, along with their families and friends, through difficult emotional journeys.
Additionally, the funding will bolster the Memory Box project initiated in 2022. These carefully curated boxes help children process grief through age-appropriate books, comforting items, and conversation tools, enabling them to remember their loved ones in positive, meaningful ways.
Charity's Gratitude for Community Support
Olivia Bonner, Trusts and Foundation Community Fundraiser at Cransley Hospice, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the donation. "Persimmon Homes' generous donation of £5,000 means the world to us at Cransley Hospice Trust and will help boost support for patients, families and friends who need our services," she said.
"It was wonderful to meet the local team from Persimmon to demonstrate some of our hospice care initiatives and show how community support genuinely makes a difference to local people's lives."
Building More Than Homes
Guy Summerill, Deputy Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Midlands, emphasised the company's commitment to community impact. "Our work extends far beyond constructing houses—it's about creating lasting positive effects in the communities where we build," he explained.
"We're always delighted to assist local charities by boosting their ongoing initiatives or contributing to causes that hold significant meaning for them. It's an honour to offer this £5,000 donation to Cransley Hospice Trust, which performs amazing work across the northern part of the county."
Summerill added: "We hope this contribution will help advance their broader fundraising goals, supporting those who benefit from hospice services to create precious memories with loved ones and receive appropriate emotional and practical support."
The donation represents a meaningful partnership between business and charity sectors in North Northamptonshire, demonstrating how corporate social responsibility initiatives can directly enhance vital community health services for residents facing life's most challenging circumstances.
