Pub-to-Pub Walk Raises Over £20,000 for Health Charities

The annual Pub-to-Pub Half Marathon Walk has made a massive impact by raising more than £20,000 for two vital health charities. The event, which returned on May 31, brought together walkers, runners, supporters, and local businesses. Participants completed the hilly 13-mile route from The Swan in Tarporley to The Lion at Malpas, enjoying the stunning Cheshire countryside while raising money for causes that make a significant difference to countless lives.

The event concluded with a celebratory barbecue at The Lion, where families enjoyed great food and a happy atmosphere. This year, Instinct Gym in Tarporley provided an energising warm-up session before the start, adding an extra element of fun to the day.

Woody Barlow, from Bear Inns, expressed delight at the success. He said: "We are absolutely delighted with the success of this year's Pub to Pub Walk. To raise more than £20,000 for two charities that mean so much to so many people is an incredible achievement and a testament to the generosity, commitment and community spirit shown by everyone involved." He added: "It was fantastic to see so many people taking part, supporting one another and enjoying the beautiful route between our pubs." Barlow continued: "Events like this demonstrate what can be achieved when communities come together for a common cause." He concluded: "On behalf of Bear Inns, I'd like to thank every participant, volunteer, supporter and especially our main sponsor, Barlows, who helped make the day such a success."

The funds raised will support the ongoing work of CRY – The Aaron Dixon Memorial Fund, which raises awareness of cardiac risk in young people, and Cancer Research North West, which funds pioneering cancer research and patient care initiatives across the region. Following the overwhelming success of this year's event, organisers are already looking ahead to next year's walk to build on the fantastic momentum.
