Manchester's 2026 Treecycle: Register Now for Eco-Friendly Christmas Tree Collection
Register for Manchester's 2026 Christmas Tree Recycling

Families across Greater Manchester can now sign up for a hassle-free and environmentally friendly way to dispose of their real Christmas trees in the new year. Francis House Children's Hospice has once again partnered with the national charity Just Helping to run its popular Treecycle appeal in January 2026.

How the Charity Christmas Tree Collection Works

The scheme offers a simple solution for residents: register your tree online, leave it outside your property on the designated collection day in January, and make a donation to the cause. In return, a team of dedicated volunteers will collect the tree directly from your doorstep.

The collected trees are then chipped and repurposed for pathways and forest management projects at Wythenshawe Park, ensuring they are put to good ecological use rather than ending up in landfill.

Vital Funds for Local Hospices and Charities

This initiative is a major fundraiser for vital local services. The January 2025 Manchester collection was a tremendous success, raising an impressive £117,000 for Greater Manchester charities.

The net proceeds are distributed between several worthy causes, including Francis House Children's Hospice, Moya Cole Hospice, Just Helping, and other local community charities. Every donation makes a direct impact.

Georgia Vacher, Manchester collection lead for Just Helping, expressed her enthusiasm: “I’m so excited for this year’s Manchester Treecycle Appeal. Last year we collected 5,309 trees and 2026 is set to be our best year yet. The Manchester community never fails to show up with incredible generosity.”

Supporting Families Across the Region

The funds raised are crucial for the ongoing work of Francis House Children's Hospice. The hospice provides essential care and support for more than 435 families from across Greater Manchester, caring for children and young adults with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Kate Puc, fundraising officer at Francis House, highlighted the dual benefit: “It’s an eco-friendly, hassle-free way to dispose of your real tree. Your donation will support Francis House Children’s Hospice, Moya Cole Hospice, and other local community charities.”

The hospice's total running cost is £5.8 million per year, with 94p of every £1 spent going directly towards its charitable work.

Registration for the January 2026 collection is now open. Residents in eligible parts of Greater Manchester are encouraged to secure their collection slot by visiting the official website: www.just-helping.org.uk/register-tree.
