Workers from two major infrastructure projects have brought a wave of festive cheer to a Lincolnshire hospital, ensuring no child on the wards will go without a present this Christmas.
A Collective Effort of Generosity
Colleagues from the Lincolnshire and Fens reservoir initiatives united in a special campaign to donate toys for young patients who will be spending the festive season in hospital. In an impressive show of community spirit, they collectively gathered 316 individual gifts. This number was significant, as it represented enough presents to fulfil every single item on the hospital's official wish list.
The donations poured in from across the entire reservoir programme. Contributors included staff from Anglian Water's reservoir programme office, on-site teams from contractor Costain, and a host of delivery partners and suppliers. Key supporters named in the drive were Flannery, Headland Archaeology, Blackwell, and Hercules PLC.
Personal Delivery of Festive Cheer
Members of the project teams took the time to visit the hospital in person to hand over the large haul of gifts. Adam Robinson, a senior programme manager at Anglian Water, expressed the group's delight at being able to help. "We're so delighted that our reservoir teams, along with our partners, have come together to spread a little Christmas cheer for the children at Boston Pilgrim Hospital," he said.
Robinson added, "Thanks to everyone's generosity, we've been able to provide gifts that we hope will bring smiles and comfort to the children and their families during what can be a difficult time. It's a small gesture, but one we hope makes their Christmas feel a little brighter."
Leaving a Positive Legacy
The hospital's charity team was deeply moved by the donation. Ben Petts, charity manager for United Lincolnshire Hospitals, stated, "We are overwhelmed by the generosity from Anglian Water and everyone who supported them with this magnificent donation of gifts. It will help make Christmas that little bit special for patients on our children's wards or visiting as an outpatient over the festive period."
Brad Dolan, construction manager at Costain, highlighted how the initiative aligns with the broader goals of major engineering projects. "Delivering social value is fundamental to ensuring that infrastructure projects leave a positive, long-term legacy that improves people's lives," he explained.
Dolan concluded, "We have been delighted to work with Anglian Water on this fantastic initiative that has brought together the entire programme, and we hope it will spread some festive cheer to those children and their families who need it most."
