Members of Rock Choir groups from Watford and St Albans have raised £4,000 for Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care during a summer candlelight concert held at St Columba's College in St Albans. The funds will provide 105 hours of specialist nursing care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Concert Highlights
Led by choir director Abigail Harris, the choir performed a selection of feel-good hits, including 'Sweet Child O' Mine,' which got the audience clapping along. The evening also featured a talk by hospice ambassador Peter Dawson, who shared insights into the charity's vital work. Later, the choir sang 'Mountain' and 'Hallelujah' by candlelight, creating a poignant atmosphere.
Community Support
Abigail Harris expressed her pride in the choir's efforts, noting that the charity is close to everyone's hearts. "The family and community aspect of Rock Choir shined through - we love to raise money for local charities and everyone was so generous with raffle prizes and donations. It was the perfect end of term performance," she said.
Clare Williams, senior relationship community fundraiser at Rennie Grove Peace, commented: "We are delighted to be benefitting from this concert and to have been part of such a magical night. Everything about the night was incredible from the singing, to the generosity of the attendees and the support from everyone involved." She added that the funds could support 105 hours of specialist nursing care, helping people from diagnosis to bereavement.
Looking Ahead
The choir has had a busy year performing across Hertfordshire and in Marbella, Spain. They are now preparing for their autumn term starting in September with a new setlist of popular songs.
