RSPCA Investigation

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Meg Cross, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We are grateful to the member of the public who found this poor dog and contacted us. It must have been very distressing to find."

She added: "A member of the public who walks their dog in the area most days said they did not see the puppy on Friday, May 1, but found it on their next walk on Sunday, May 3. However, the dog may have been deceased longer due to the condition it was found in."

Veterinary Examination

The puppy was collected by ARO Cross and examined by a vet. "There was no microchip present and no external injuries were found, but the circumstances are suspicious, so we would like to find out more information about what happened," she said.

Anyone with firsthand information about this dog is urged to contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018 and quote incident number 01792379.
