Dedicated runner Andy Edwards is taking on an extraordinary year-long endurance challenge, running 100 miles across 10 official race events to transform the lives of children waiting for loving homes. His inspiring effort is raising vital funds and awareness for Lancashire-based charity Adoption Matters, a dedicated organisation that helps find permanent, supportive families for children in care while offering ongoing support throughout their lives.
A Journey of Determination
Andy kicked off his epic journey at the Chester 10k in March 2026 and has already passed the halfway mark - completing six gruelling races and clocking up over 53 miles so far on his road to the century milestone. Upcoming events include the Warrington Half Marathon, Manchester Half Marathon, and the Hadrian’s Wall Half Marathon, which will take him beyond the 100-mile mark by October.
Each race - from the Tatton Trail 10k to the Manchester Trail Escape 25k - represents another step toward his goal of the charity helping children find permanent, nurturing homes. His total challenge covers 165 kilometres (102.7 miles), a testament to his endurance and commitment to making a difference.
Personal Motivation
Andy said: “I’m running in aid of Adoption Matters because, as adopters ourselves, my wife and I know first-hand the incredible support they provide throughout the adoption journey. The charity helps so many families like ours and any funds raised will make a real difference to help them continue to support so many more.”
His personal connection to the cause underscores the importance of the charity's work, which extends beyond adoption placement to lifelong support for families.
