Children from BrightSparks Kindergarten in Sibsey took part in a two-mile sponsored ride to raise funds for new cooling equipment at the nursery. The event, held on bikes, scooters and push-alongs, saw participants aged between nine months and 11 years complete the route through the village, supported by local families lining the streets.
Hot summer prompts fundraising effort
The ride was organised by two mothers following recent hot summer weather, which made conditions uncomfortable inside the nursery's wooden building. The building suffers from high temperatures during the summer months, prompting the need for air conditioning to create a cooler and safer learning environment for the children.
Community support boosts total
The young participants raised more than £200, with additional support from a local business, Nathan Hobson Building & Fireplaces, which contributed a generous donation to increase the total. Organisers are aiming to reach a target of £1,000 to help install the new climate control system.
