Colleagues from across the London region joined forces to raise funds for two leading children’s charities, the National Deaf Children’s Society and the Royal Society for Blind Children. In total, store directors and team members from 22 Specsavers stores in North, South, East, West London, and the City at Bishopsgate came together at Specsavers Kilburn to walk 30 miles for the worthy charities.
Organiser's Perspective
Lead organiser Parus Pindoria, ophthalmic director at Specsavers Kilburn, said: 'This walk is an opportunity to make a genuine, lasting difference. Every pound raised goes towards a child gaining confidence, a young person pursuing their ambitions, and a family receiving the support they need. Both charities are transforming lives each and every day, and this is our way of being part of that journey.' He added: 'My business partner Nimesh and I are very grateful to the donations we have received from family, friends and Specsavers colleagues.'
Route and Fundraising
The 30-mile charity walk included visiting stores in Queensway, Fulham, Pimlico, Strand and mid-City at Holborn and Tottenham Court Road, and onwards to the East End where they stopped at Specsavers Bethnal Green, Whitechapel, Dalston Cross and Hackney before concluding in North London at Specsavers Golders Green. To date, the team has raised more than £2,600, which will be split between the two charities to provide invaluable support, advice and a network of professionals to assist children with hearing loss, deafness or sight conditions.
