People from across Gloucestershire can now sign up for an uplifting evening of remembrance to raise vital funds for end-of-life care. The popular annual walking challenge invites friends and families to complete a special route to honour the memory of someone special. The money raised from the evening will support Sue Ryder, a leading national healthcare charity, to ensure more people can access expert medical support.
Event Details and Route
Participants will follow a route around the spa town of Cheltenham before passing through the tranquil grounds of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. Walkers can enjoy live music from talented local choirs and take part in a high-energy warm-up session before setting off. At the hospice, the grounds will be softly lit with special festoon lights to create a peaceful atmosphere for reflection.
Quotes from Organisers and Sponsor
Alysia Cameron-Price, Regional Fundraising Team Manager for Sue Ryder, said: “Whether you have a personal connection to Sue Ryder or simply want to support a cause that matters to you and your community, this is your moment to make a difference. You’ll be part of a warm, joyful atmosphere filled with stories, reflection, laughter and the chance to feel part of something bigger. Last year, Sue Ryder provided more than 655,000 hours of expert care including from Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice thanks to the support of people signing up to events like Starlight Hike. Every moment made a difference. By taking part and raising sponsorship, you’ll help ensure even more people receive the expert care and grief support they need because no one should face death or grief alone.”
Rowan Elliott, at Allstone Speedy Skips and Monster Mix, said: “Having attended Starlight Hike in 2025 I was fortunate to see the incredible joy and positivity from all involved in supporting a charity doing fantastic work in the community. Allstone is proud to be part of this event, continuing our partnership with Sue Ryder and their ongoing work. I’d encourage everyone to support the Starlight Hike – come along, sample the atmosphere, meet great people and raise funds for a truly worthy cause.”
