Sunshine Zipline Launches on Newcastle Quayside with 350ft River Tyne Flight
Sunshine Zipline Opens on Newcastle Quayside

The Sunshine Fund has launched its new Sunshine Zipline on Newcastle Quayside, offering participants a thrilling 350ft flight across the River Tyne at speeds of up to 30mph. Starting on the Quayside and ending at Baltic Square, challengers are elevated 150ft in the air by crane before soaring over the river. Entry is discounted to £40 per person, and each participant pledges to raise at least £50. All proceeds will fund specialist and adapted equipment to improve the daily lives of children living with disabilities, additional needs, and terminal illness in the North East.

Experience and Booking Details

The zipline is ideal for individuals, groups, or corporate teams seeking a unique challenge. Spaces are selling fast, and bookings can be made at www.thesunshinefund.org/zip. Terms and conditions, including weight restrictions, apply. The event is described as a perfect end to a Friday, combining adrenaline with a good cause.

Community Fundraising: Millie's Sweet Treats

In addition to the zipline, The Sunshine Fund highlights a recent community fundraiser led by local mother Rachel Allan. Inspired by her daughter Millie, who has additional needs and loves sweet treats, Rachel opened a baked goods shop inside Paramount Gym in Bedlington. The opening featured delicious treats, a raffle, and a tombola, raising essential funds for the charity.

Rachel said: “We chose this charity because its mission is something very close to our hearts and their amazing team gave us so much support in the past. We did an amazing raffle and tombola on our open day and raised a whopping £720! Thanks to all our amazing local businesses and our family and friends for donating and making this happen. Millie’s Sweet Treats was inspired by Millie herself and her brother, Harrison. Their brilliant ideas made this dream a reality and we are so proud of them both.”

Impact and Future Support

The Sunshine Fund expressed gratitude to Rachel, Millie, and Harrison for their fundraising efforts, as well as all who supported the event. The funds raised will make a significant difference to local families. The charity encourages others to get involved and can be contacted at hello@thesunshinefund.org for more information on how to support their work.
