Wolves Legend and Aston Villa Icon to Share Stage
Wolverhampton Wanderers legend Steve Bull is set to reunite with former Aston Villa midfielder Ian Taylor for a new charity event in Birmingham. The two football icons, who were fierce rivals on the pitch, will come together for an evening of stories and anecdotes at the Birmingham Rep theatre on November 24, 2023.
Charity Evening of Football Memories
The event, titled "An Evening with Steve Bull and Ian Taylor," aims to raise funds for local charities. Bull, who scored 306 goals for Wolves, and Taylor, a key figure in Villa's 1996 League Cup win, will discuss their careers, the rivalry between the two clubs, and share behind-the-scenes stories. Tickets are priced at £30, with proceeds going to the Birmingham Children's Hospital and the Wolves Foundation.
According to the event organizers, the evening will also feature a Q&A session, giving fans the chance to ask questions. Bull said: "It's great to be doing this with Ian. We had some great battles on the pitch, but it's all for a good cause now." Taylor added: "Steve and I have a lot of respect for each other. This will be a fun night for fans of both clubs."
Rivalry Put Aside for Good Cause
The event highlights how football rivalries can be set aside for charity. Both players are revered at their respective clubs, with Bull being Wolves' all-time leading scorer and Taylor a fan favorite at Villa Park. The evening is expected to attract fans from across the West Midlands, celebrating the region's rich football heritage.
Organizers expect the event to sell out quickly, with tickets already available through the Birmingham Rep website. The event is part of a series of charity events featuring former footballers, aiming to raise significant funds for community projects.
