Young fundraisers who have dedicated the past year to supporting Nottingham's homeless community were celebrated at a special awards evening. The Framework Young Supporters Awards recognised the outstanding charity efforts of children and schools across the region.
A Night of Recognition and Inspiration
Guest speaker Adam Pagett, who previously experienced rough sleeping, shared his powerful personal story to thank the young supporters for their contributions. He detailed how Framework helped him rebuild his life following a period of homelessness, substance misuse, and mental health challenges.
Steve Watson, director of policy, insight and engagement at Framework, praised the young supporters for having a significant impact on local lives. The event highlighted the collective achievements of 17 individual fundraisers, three primary schools, and a local Scouts group who took part in events throughout the year.
Raising £9,400 for Homeless Services
The group collectively raised £9,400 through a variety of challenges, including inflatable runs, marathons, sleep-out challenges, abseils, and community bake sales. These funds will help finance activities and new opportunities for residents living in supported accommodation across the region.
Adam Pagett said: "Doing one small act of kindness or a gesture, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, may just be the spark of light during the dark times in someone's life."
He continued: "Although you may not always see the difference you make to people's lives by the money you raise, trust me, for everything you do, every penny you raise, somebody somewhere will always feel the benefit of your efforts."
New Youth Patrons Announced
The celebration evening also marked the official handover of the charity's dedicated Youth Patron role for the upcoming year. Outgoing patron Lewis Smith was thanked for his exceptional work running school campaigns and taking part in multiple fun runs.
Schoolfriends Ciara Hough and Maggie James will now take on the ambassador role together for the 2026-27 period. Maggie has already started her fundraising efforts by swimming across Rutland Water to generate more than £800 for the cause.
Maggie James said: "I'm really honoured to do the Framework Young Patron role with Ciara. I think it's going to be a really fun thing to do and I'm really excited to help people get their own front door. I really hope I can help raise awareness and money through fun events that help other young people realise they can also make a difference, however small."
She added: "Hearing Adam speak about how hard homelessness is made me really appreciate what Framework does, and I'm looking forward to contributing to that."
Ciara Hough said: "I'm so happy to be taking on the role as Youth Patron and look forward to raising awareness and continuing fundraising for Framework."
Group Awards and How to Get Involved
Group awards were handed to Brookside Primary School, Beeston Rylands Junior School, Netherfield Primary School, and 3rd Netherfield Scouts Group. These groups were recognised for their exceptional contributions to fundraising throughout the year.
