Nominations have officially opened for a prestigious awards ceremony designed to honour the exceptional work of voluntary and community organisations across South Yorkshire.
Celebrating Four Decades of Community Impact
The Community Celebration Awards, organised by South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF), will spotlight groups making a meaningful difference in each of the region’s four boroughs: Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, and Sheffield. This initiative forms a key part of SYCF’s 40th-anniversary celebrations in 2026.
Since its founding in 1986, SYCF has been dedicated to connecting local generosity with local need. To date, the foundation has invested an impressive more than £40 million into community projects and initiatives throughout South Yorkshire.
Recognising Tireless Local Efforts
The awards are exclusively open to not-for-profit voluntary or community organisations based in South Yorkshire that have received SYCF funding and are demonstrably creating positive change. One winner will be chosen from each of the four boroughs, ensuring recognition for inspiring work happening in every corner of the region.
Martin Singer, Chief Executive of SYCF, praised the upcoming awards. “Our Community Celebration Awards are a wonderful way to honour and recognise groups we have supported who work tirelessly to serve communities in South Yorkshire and make a lasting local impact,” he said.
“From initiatives tackling disadvantage to projects encouraging young people into employment, we have funded thousands of local groups over the last four decades. These awards are an opportunity to celebrate the incredible efforts of community organisations who use our grants to respond to local needs and create long-term change.”
How to Enter and Key Dates
Groups that are shortlisted will receive an invitation to a special celebration event in May 2026. Organisations wishing to put themselves forward or nominate another must act quickly.
The submission process is straightforward. Entries can be made via the official website at www.sycf.org.uk. The final deadline for all nominations is 28 February.
This awards scheme promises to be a fitting tribute to the vibrant voluntary sector in South Yorkshire, highlighting the profound and often unsung contributions that strengthen communities across the region.
