Shropshire Festivals has announced the launch of a garden competition for local schools and community groups. The award-winning events business has partnered with David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes, who will fund a garden project for one lucky Shropshire school or community space worth up to £1,500.
How to Enter
To enter, download an entry form and submit a garden design for a small or large space. Ideally, the design will celebrate sustainability, a key ethos of Shropshire Festivals, by incorporating eco-friendly features such as recycled materials. Elaborate water features or ponds will not be accepted. Entries are accepted from Shropshire-based schools or community organisations only. Commercial, private, or business spaces cannot apply. The closing date for entries is Friday, June 19 at 12pm.
Voting and Display
The top three designs will be displayed at the Shrewsbury Food Festival in the Quarry on June 27th and 28th, where visitors will vote to decide on the winning design.
Quotes from Organisers
Beth Heath from Shropshire Festivals said she is very grateful for the support in continuing this legacy project for Shrewsbury Food Festival. “We are so thankful to David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes for making our garden competition possible. This project will fund the fifth community garden that Shropshire Festivals has made happen, with the most generous budget to date. It’s an amazing opportunity to transform a space in the local community, which will hopefully make a difference for many years to come. Improving where we live is an important part of Shropshire Festivals’ mission, so we’re very pleased to continue that work. Please get your entries in ASAP!”
Helen Lewis, managing director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the team at Shropshire Festivals to fund a new community garden in Shropshire that will leave a lasting impact on a local community.”
Adrian Evans, managing director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, added: “It’s fantastic to be working with Shropshire Festivals on a way to make an impact beyond their event sites. We can’t wait to see all the entries.”
