Sol Bistro, a beloved neighbourhood bistro in Cotteridge, has launched a Crowdfunder campaign to support its relocation after the building it currently occupies was sold. The move will see the bistro shift just a few doors down Pershore Road to the former Northcroft Clinic, where it plans to open a larger cafe with an expanded menu, an evening bar, and a sunny garden.
A New Chapter for Sol Bistro
The current cafe at 1869 Pershore Road has been serving up 'excellent' breakfasts for five years, earning a top-rating on Google for its 'cosy' setting and 'delicious' food. Now, with the building sold, the team is viewing this as an opportunity rather than a setback.
In a message on its Crowdfunder page, the cafe explained: "Sol Bistro started as a small independent café built on a simple idea - great coffee, quality food, and a welcoming space for our local community. From day one, it's been about creating somewhere people genuinely enjoy spending time, whether that's a quick coffee or a relaxed brunch with friends."
What the Move Means
The relocation is set for autumn, with the existing cafe staying open until then. The new space will allow Sol Bistro to become a 'full day-to-evening destination', offering coffee and brunch in the mornings and transforming into a bar and bistro vibe by night.
The team has already secured the keys to the new unit and has most of the equipment needed. "We already have the foundations in place - our team, our customers, and most of the equipment we need," the Crowdfunder message continued. "The funds we raise will go directly into bringing this new space to life, including a commercial kitchen setup, refurbishing the interior into a proper bistro environment, creating a small bar area, and adding more seating to welcome even more people."
Community Support Needed
Sol Bistro has set a £5,000 fundraising target to help with the move. The team emphasised that this isn't about starting from scratch but building on what's already working. "This isn't about starting from scratch - it's about building on what’s already working and taking it to the next level," they said. "With your support, we can create something really special for our community. Thank you for being part of our journey."
The cafe promises to share updates on the renovation of the old office space as it unfolds. For now, customers can still visit the current location at 1869 Pershore Road, Cotteridge, B30 3DJ.
