More than 40 volunteers from One Church Keynsham have transformed an overgrown garden into a welcoming outdoor space for pupils at Lift Broadlands school in Keynsham. Adults and children from the church spent a day clearing plants, building steps, and collecting litter at the school.
Community partnership
The effort forms part of an ongoing community partnership to support pupils and staff at the Keynsham school. The church team has also provided essential supplies for families, including back-to-school items, stationery, and Christmas hampers.
Future plans
Both organisations are now working together to name the garden, install seating, and launch a student mentoring scheme. Sarah Hansford, community outreach lead at One Church Keynsham, said: “We believe communities are stronger when people look out for one another, and Broadlands is such an important part of Keynsham, doing brilliant work with young people. It has been wonderful to see so many adults and children come together to make a real difference, and we hope this is the beginning of a long and meaningful partnership supporting pupils and staff for years to come.”

Laura Stone, principal at Lift Broadlands, added: “We are incredibly grateful to One Church Keynsham for the support they have shown our school community. The garden project is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when people come together, and it will create a special outdoor space for our pupils to enjoy.
