Rossendale Ramblers Enjoy Annual Holiday in Sedbergh, Cumbria
Rossendale Ramblers Annual Holiday in Sedbergh Success

By Rossendale Ramblers

From Monday to Friday last week, 33 of our members enjoyed our annual walking holiday, this time in Sedbergh, Cumbria. Taking over an HF hotel, the group completed 11 walks totaling nearly 110 miles, and finished with a musical extravaganza by our very own Rocky Ramblers musicians. The longest walk was 16 miles, and The Calf was the most significant peak conquered. Despite three rainy days, the holiday was an outstanding success once again.

On Saturday, 16 walkers and five dogs participated in a two-hour pub walk from Hawkshaw. Lovely weather, a scenic route, and lots of chat on the walk and in the pub afterwards made this one to remember. Finally, on Sunday, 17 ramblers enjoyed a seven-mile walk in the Ribble Valley near Ribchester, basking in very warm sunshine and rolling views.

Upcoming Walks

On Sunday, May 31, we have a six-mile walk from Ainsworth, near Bolton, exploring local reservoirs and historic Barrack Fold Farm. The walk finishes by 2pm, leaving plenty of time for family matters. On Wednesday, June 3, we set off from Hebden Bridge to explore Hardcastle Crags, a delightful walking area. On Thursday, June 4, join us for an evening pub walk from Haslingden. This two-hour walk explores the local countryside before returning to the pub for an extended social.

Our walks are free, but after three walks we ask you to join The Ramblers at only £3.75 per month. For more information, visit our website at www.rossendale-ramblers.co.uk, or contact secretary Bernie on 07752 570304, or at inforosram@gmail.com.
