Police Response and Investigation

West Midlands Police have confirmed they are actively investigating the attack, where the couple were threatened with a weapon. A spokeswoman for the force stated: "We're investigating after a man and woman were assaulted and threatened with a weapon at an address on Shirley Road, Birmingham, on 13 February, shortly after 7.15pm. The pair thankfully were not injured during the incident."

The police response was swift, with armed officers attending the scene. Authorities returned on Saturday morning to conduct further door-to-door enquiries. The spokeswoman added: "We're carrying out CCTV trawls, speaking to witnesses, and are continuing to work at pace to find those responsible. We would ask anyone with any information that could assist our officers to call 101 quoting crime number 20/146945/26."

Community Concerns Over Rising Crime

The incident has sparked significant concern among local residents about crime levels in the area. The neighbour expressed frustration, noting: "This part of Hall Green / Shirley Road is slowly becoming a crime hotspot, with some residents totally fed up of how rampant crime is. It seems that the relevant authorities no longer have the resources that would allow them to effectively do their jobs, tackling serious crime and allowing residents to feel and live safe and comfortable lives."

This alarming event highlights ongoing issues with public safety and resource allocation in the community, as residents call for more effective measures to combat such violent crimes.
