A 34-year-old man has been arrested following a police chase involving a stolen car in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 11, when officers spotted a vehicle suspected of being stolen.
Short Pursuit Leads to Arrest on Longleat Avenue
After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was brought to a stop on Longleat Avenue. Police confirmed that the car had been reported stolen last month, leading to the immediate detention of the suspect.
The man was arrested on suspicion of:
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Failing to stop for police
- Three additional theft of motor vehicle offences
- Driving whilst disqualified
- Driving without insurance
Police Statement Details the Incident
In an official statement, West Midlands Police said: "A man has been arrested, and we've recovered a stolen vehicle in Birmingham. Officers spotted a suspected stolen vehicle in Edgbaston yesterday (Saturday), and it was brought to a stop on Longleat Avenue following a short pursuit. A 34-year-old man was detained while searches were carried out."
The statement continued: "The car was confirmed to have been stolen last month, and the man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop. He has also been arrested in connection with three other theft of motor vehicle offences, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. He remains in custody for questioning."
This arrest highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat vehicle theft and related crimes in the Birmingham area. The suspect is currently being held for further interrogation as the investigation continues.
