A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a 16-year-old cyclist died following a collision near Birmingham City's St Andrew's stadium.
West Midlands Police were called to the junction of Cattell Road and Templefield Street in Small Heath at around 5.25am on Friday, August 28. The teenager was hit by a car and taken to hospital, where he died on Saturday, August 29.
Arrest and ongoing investigation
Yesterday, a man aged 47 was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody, the force confirmed.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "Our thoughts are with his loved ones who are being supported and updated by specialist officers. Our enquiries are continuing and yesterday, a man aged 47 was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and he remains in police custody."
Victim named online
The victim has been named online as teenager Muhammad Ismail Alum. Police have not officially confirmed this name.
Officers are continuing to appeal for information and footage from the incident. The force said: "We are still urging anyone who has information or footage to get in touch with us."
