A 13-hour police stand-off in Aston concluded on Thursday afternoon when a 20-year-old man was arrested after barricading himself inside a property on Westwood Road. The incident began around midnight on July 9, prompting a large police response that included specialist negotiators and a helicopter.

One local resident told BirminghamLive: “I spoke to one of the officers and they said it had been here since around 12.30am. Obviously, it is a pretty intense situation if it has been that long.”

After more than 13 hours, the siege ended at approximately 4:19pm when police cleared the scene and removed the tape. The man was taken into custody. West Midlands Police confirmed that a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats with a bladed article in a private place and possession of Class A drugs.
