Shocking new footage has revealed the moment a teenage driver led police on a high-speed pursuit through residential areas before ultimately crashing into the side of a house.
Reckless Flight from Police
Fabio Sanches-Kuiper, 18, made the fateful decision to speed away from officers after they discovered his Ford Focus parked in Hardwick, Cambridgeshire, on November 10. The vehicle had no insurance or tax and was occupied by multiple people.
In a desperate attempt to evade capture, the teenager from Great Cambourne embarked on a profoundly dangerous driving spree. He tore through residential neighbourhoods, drove across a public park, and even mounted a pedestrian footpath, putting countless members of the public at risk.
Crash and Capture
The reckless chase concluded when Sanches-Kuiper lost control of his vehicle on a corner. The Ford Focus careered into the side of a property and collided with a stationary car.
In the immediate aftermath, the teen and his passengers fled the scene, leaving the car in gear. However, his escape was short-lived. Sanches-Kuiper stumbled while running and was promptly detained by police at the scene.
Subsequent checks uncovered an even more serious offence: the driver was already banned from the roads following a previous police pursuit in July.
Court Sentencing and Official Response
At Peterborough Magistrates' Court on November 12, Fabio Sanches-Kuiper admitted to a catalogue of driving offences. These included dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving whilst disqualified, and driving without insurance.
The court handed down a 12-month prison sentence and imposed an additional two-year driving ban.
PC Chris Cooke, from the Road Policing Unit, condemned the teen's actions. He stated: "This was an incredibly reckless act that could have had devastating consequences for his passengers and members of the public. We're thankful that no one was seriously injured."
