Major Cannabis Haul Uncovered in Erdington Property
West Midlands Police have made a significant drugs discovery in Birmingham, arresting a suspect after a large quantity of cannabis was found hidden within a residential property. The operation took place on Tuesday, November 18, when officers executed a warrant at an address on Gladstone Road in the Stockland Green area of Erdington.
Hidden Drugs Worth Thousands Discovered
During a thorough search of the premises, police uncovered approximately two kilograms of cannabis concealed within several bags. Authorities estimate the street value of the Class B drug seizure to be worth thousands of pounds.
A 29-year-old man was promptly arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled substances. Following questioning, the suspect has been released on bail with strict conditions while police continue their investigations into the drug operation.
Ongoing Community Safety Efforts
The raid formed part of a wider 'all-out day of action' in Stockland Green, where West Midlands Police collaborated with Birmingham City Council and community representatives. A police spokesperson confirmed: "We've arrested a man and seized a large quantity of cannabis as we worked with partners for an all-out day of action in Stockland Green."
The operation also included increased patrols around the area, with officers engaging local businesses and residents to address concerns about anti-social behaviour. Additional patrols were conducted around Brookvale Park as part of these enquiries.
The force has reinforced its commitment to tackling drug crime through Operation Skybridge, which has returned to the Erdington and Stockland Green area this month. This initiative involves both uniformed and plain-clothed officers working to combat burglary, robbery, vehicle crime, and drug offences.
The seized cannabis will be destroyed, and police are urging anyone with information about crime in their local area to contact them on 101.
