Police in Birmingham have launched an urgent hunt for a hit-and-run driver after a 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries in a collision on Slade Road, Stockland Green, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
West Midlands Police were called to the street at around 2.15am after reports of a disturbance. The victim was struck by a car shortly after an alleged dispute broke out involving a number of people, and the driver allegedly failed to stop, fleeing the scene immediately after impact.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment for multiple serious injuries. As of Saturday afternoon, he remains in hospital, though police have said his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Scene cordoned off for investigation
Following the incident, officers sealed off part of Slade Road while forensic investigators and a collision investigation unit carried out a detailed examination of the area. The cordon remained in place for much of the morning, causing disruption to local traffic and residents.
The nature of the prior dispute is still unclear, and detectives are working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the collision. They have so far made no arrests.

In a statement released on Saturday, a West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We're investigating after a man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on Slade Road, Stockland Green, in the early hours of this morning."
"We were called at around 2.15am, and the man was taken to hospital with a number of serious injuries. The 35-year-old remains there today. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening."
"The car was driven away from the scene after the collision. It's believed there had been a dispute involving a number of people in the street shortly before the collision, and we are working to understand the full circumstances of what happened and who was responsible."

Appeal for witnesses and footage
Investigators are now appealing for anyone who was in the Slade Road area around 2.15am to come forward. They are especially keen to speak to motorists with dashcam installations, as well as residents with CCTV systems that may have captured the vehicle, which is yet to be identified.
"Dashcam and CCTV footage can be crucial in establishing the make and model of the vehicle and identifying the driver," the spokesman added. "We would ask anyone who has not yet spoken to us to do so as soon as possible."
No arrests have been made at this stage, and police inquiries are ongoing. Officers believe there may have been several people present during the dispute and are appealing for those individuals to come forward to provide their account of what occurred.
