Birmingham man charged after guns found at city address

A 23-year-old man from Handsworth has appeared before magistrates in Birmingham, facing serious charges related to firearms and ammunition discovered at a city address.

Charges Follow Police Discovery

Carlo Reid, aged 23 and of Handsworth, was charged with two separate counts of possessing a firearm. He also faces a charge of possessing ammunition without the required certificate.

In addition to the weapons charges, Reid is accused of acquiring and possessing criminal property. The charges were brought by West Midlands Police following an incident on Sunday, December 14.

Weapons Recovered on Shady Lane

Police stated that the investigation was launched after two guns and ammunition were found at an address on Shady Lane in Birmingham. The discovery was made at around 9:45pm on Saturday night, December 14.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the sequence of events, linking the recovery directly to the court appearance.

Court Appearance and Custody

Reid was remanded in custody and was due to face a hearing at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, December 16.
