Mohammed Khan, 36, of Lea Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, is among four men charged with conspiracy to produce the Class-A drug methamphetamine following an investigation into an alleged Breaking Bad-style operation on remote farmland near Furnace End in Warwickshire.
Khan is scheduled to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on October 24. The other three defendants — Kenneth Burton, Paul Harkness Mawby and Anthony Devine, all aged 34 — will appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Saturday, October 24.
Charges and Court Appearances
The National Crime Agency (NCA) confirmed the charges in a statement. A spokesperson said: "Four men will appear in court charged in relation to the alleged production of meth." The spokesperson added that all four are accused of conspiracy to produce methamphetamine, a Class-A drug.
The three men appearing at Teesside Magistrates' Court are Kenneth Burton, of The Meadows, Wynyard, Co Durham; Paul Harkness Mawby, of Pacific Drive, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees; and Anthony Devine, of Crosswell Park, Ingleby Barwick.
Arrests and Searches
According to the NCA, officers supported by Cleveland Police and West Midlands Police arrested the men yesterday and conducted a series of searches in Birmingham and the North East. The investigation has also received support from the US Drug Enforcement Agency.
The charges come after five Mexican men were charged last month as part of the same NCA investigation, according to the agency spokesperson.
Investigation Background
The alleged meth lab was located on remote farmland near Furnace End in Warwickshire, where the crime group is accused of manufacturing the drug. The NCA investigation remains ongoing, with all four men expected to appear in court tomorrow morning.
