Donald Sheppard, a 64-year-old Birmingham man, died at the scene of a collision involving three lorries on the M6 northbound carriageway early on Monday, August 17. The crash occurred between junctions 15 and 16, near Seabridge in Newcastle-under-Lyme, at 4.10am.
Family remembers a 'devoted and loving husband'
In a tribute released through Staffordshire Police, Donald's family described him as a devoted and loving husband, a cherished brother, a much-loved uncle, and a loyal friend to many. They said: 'Don was a devoted and loving husband, a cherished brother, a much-loved uncle, and a loyal friend to many. He touched the lives of countless people through his kindness, warmth, and willingness to help others.'
The family added: 'Don leaves behind a family and circle of friends who loved him dearly. While words cannot lessen the pain of his loss, the memories shared with him will remain a lasting source of comfort and pride. He will be remembered with love, missed every day, and held forever in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.'
Collision details and hospitalisations
Mr Sheppard was driving a Ford Focus when he was involved in the crash with three lorries. He died at the scene. The drivers of the three lorries were taken to hospital following the collision. Two of them were later discharged, while one driver remains in hospital as of Thursday, August 20.
Police appeal for information
Staffordshire Police have appealed for anyone with information or CCTV and dashcam footage from the area at the time of the crash who has not yet been in touch to come forward. Witnesses are asked to contact the force quoting incident 86 of August 17.
