A Perry Barr man has been fined nearly £400 after allowing his 15-year-old brother to drive his car on a public road.
Incident Details
Police discovered Haaris Farouk, 23, in the passenger seat of a white BMW in Gavin Way, Perry Barr, with his teenage brother behind the wheel. The car was not displaying learner plates.
Farouk told officers he was teaching his brother to drive and claimed they were only going up and down the road in first gear.
Court Proceedings
At Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 9, Farouk pleaded guilty to causing use of a motor vehicle with no insurance. He was fined £384 and ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs.
The Chair of the Bench told him: "We feel you are a person of good character. Perhaps what you did was foolish but not necessarily bad."
Farouk also received six penalty points on his driving licence and told the court: "I won't do it again, I'm sorry."
