Victim Attacked in Birmingham City Centre

A man from the West Midlands has been left with permanent brain damage and lost an eye following a brutal assault in Birmingham city centre. The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 12 March, near the junction of Hurst Street and Smallbrook Queensway.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, was found by passers-by at around 3:30am and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in a serious condition, according to West Midlands Police.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detectives have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or has information to come forward. Detective Inspector Jim Colclough said: “This was a shocking and violent attack that has left a man with life-changing injuries. We are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”

Police believe the victim may have been targeted after an altercation outside a nightclub. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to potential witnesses.

Community Shocked by Violence

The attack has shocked the local community, with residents expressing concern about safety in the area. One local business owner said: “It’s terrifying to think something like this can happen in broad daylight, or even early morning. People should feel safe going out.”

West Midlands Police have increased patrols in the city centre and urged anyone with information to contact them via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
