Birmingham police chase ends with crash and dog bite

A dramatic police pursuit through the streets of Birmingham culminated in a crash and a suspect being apprehended by a police dog after he attempted to flee on foot.

Chase Through Sheldon

The incident began when West Midlands Police officers spotted a stolen Volkswagen Golf R being driven in the Sheldon area of the city. The sighting quickly escalated into a pursuit as the driver refused to stop for the authorities.

In an attempt to disable the vehicle, officers deployed a stinger device. However, this tactical intervention failed to deter the determined driver, who continued his attempt to escape.

Crash and Capture

The chase reached its climax when the driver of the stolen car crashed the vehicle. Following the collision, he abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot in a desperate bid to avoid capture.

His freedom was short-lived. A police dog team from the force was swiftly deployed to the area to search for the suspect. The team successfully located the man, who was found hiding nearby.

Arrest Following Incident

During the arrest, the suspect was bitten by the police dog. He was subsequently taken into custody by officers. The entire event was detailed by the West Midlands Police Road Crime Team on their official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, November 15.

The post confirmed that the stolen VW Golf R was pursued after being seen in Sheldon, was stung by ANPR Interceptors, and that the driver was arrested after being found by the police dog unit.
