Police Appeal for Witnesses After City Centre Stabbing

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being stabbed in the neck in an unprovoked attack in Birmingham city centre. The incident occurred on Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm on Thursday, November 7.

Critical Condition and Arrest Made

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was left in a critical condition following the assault. She remains in hospital receiving treatment. A man in his 20s was arrested near the scene and remains in police custody this afternoon as enquiries continue.

Detectives from West Midlands Police have stated they are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Urgent Witness Appeal Launched

Officers are urgently appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who was in the city centre area before the incident or who may have seen a person acting suspiciously.

Detective Inspector James Nix said: "We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened."

To aid the investigation, police have opened a Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) where members of the public can submit photos or video evidence.
