Birmingham's Most Dangerous Areas Revealed in 2025 Crime Data
Birmingham's most dangerous areas ranked for 2025

Fresh crime statistics have identified the most dangerous parts of Birmingham, revealing which neighbourhoods residents are statistically most likely to become victims of serious offences.

Familiar Names Top Birmingham's Crime List

Analysis of West Midlands Police data for the twelve months to August shows two policing areas consistently dominating serious crime rankings. Lozells and East Handsworth, grouped together as a single policing area, recorded 2,288 violent and sexual offences, while neighbouring Aston documented 2,264 similar incidents.

These north Birmingham districts were the only areas to surpass 2,000 reported violent and sexual crimes during this period. Both locations have long struggled with gang-related conflicts, with numerous stabbings and shootings occurring on their streets over recent years.

Other High-Risk Neighbourhoods Identified

The crime data reveals several other areas experiencing significant levels of serious crime. Following the top two offenders, Acocks Green recorded 1,949 violent and sexual offences, with Stockland Green close behind at 1,932 incidents.

South Yardley and Sparkbrook also featured prominently in the rankings with 1,924 and 1,811 reported crimes respectively. The statistics cover offences categorised as 'violent and sexual', which encompasses everything from murder and robbery to rape and domestic violence.

Police Report Progress Despite Concerning Figures

Despite these troubling numbers, West Midlands Police emphasises that crime rates are decreasing across the region. The force reports that the number of crime victims fell by nearly 20,000 in the year to June.

The reality of these statistics was highlighted last month when a man was killed in an attack near Perry Barr train station, underscoring the serious nature of offences occurring in these high-crime areas.
