The most peaceful neighbourhoods in Birmingham, where residents rarely have to worry about crime or antisocial behaviour (ASB), have been revealed. These areas offer a tranquil environment, allowing locals to enjoy a restful night's sleep without the disturbances that plague other parts of the city.
Lowest ASB Incidents in Birmingham
According to the latest police crime figures, the quietest streets are predominantly found in Sutton Coldfield, an affluent area known for its leafy surroundings. Sutton Four Oaks recorded only 46 ASB incidents in the year to February, averaging fewer than one per week. Nearby Sutton New Hall reported 75 incidents over the same period.
Other areas with low ASB totals include Hall Green (85), Sutton Vesey (112), Oscott (113), Nechells (125), Jewellery Quarter (135), Chelmsley Wood (148), Quinton (148), Handsworth Wood (149), and Soho Road (149).
Contrast with High-Crime Areas
In stark contrast, Aston and Small Heath and Highgate experienced the highest levels of ASB, each with 319 recorded offences over the 12-month period—nearly one per day. Longbridge followed closely with 316 incidents.
Residents in the peaceful neighbourhoods report feeling safe and comfortable in their homes, with crime and nuisance behaviour being rare occurrences. The findings highlight the disparity between Birmingham's most serene and most troubled areas.
