West Mercia Police have confirmed that a body has been found in the search for missing man Jianhua Wu. The 47-year-old, from Market Drayton, was last seen on the A49 in Shrewsbury at around 3.45am on Sunday, August 2.
Police had earlier issued a missing person appeal, asking anyone who saw Jianhua to get in touch. The appeal was launched after he was reported missing in the Shrewsbury area.
Body found during search
In an update, the force said a body had been discovered during their search. Officers are not treating the death as suspicious.
West Mercia Police said: "A body has been discovered in the search for 47-year-old, Jianhua Wu. The death is not being treated as suspicious. Formal identification has not yet taken place but it is thought to be that of Jianhua. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal."
Formal identification pending
Formal identification has not yet been completed, although police believe the body is that of Jianhua. The force thanked the public for sharing the appeal and supporting the search.
West Mercia Police covers Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, and officers have been conducting enquiries in and around the Shrewsbury area since the disappearance was reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
