Teenager Detained Following Kings Norton Chase

A 14-year-old boy remains in police custody after officers from the West Midlands Police Guardian Taskforce seized a ninja sword during an incident in Birmingham. The arrest occurred on the evening of Thursday, November 13, following a chase in the Kings Norton area.

Police Patrol Spots Suspicious Activity

The situation unfolded at approximately 7:30 PM when the specialist taskforce, which focuses on tackling knife crime and youth violence, noticed two boys acting suspiciously. Upon seeing the officers, the two youths allegedly ran away, prompting a pursuit.

The chase concluded on Pine Wall Avenue, where both individuals were detained. Subsequent searches of the suspects led to significant discoveries by the police.

Weapon and Drugs Seized by Officers

Following the detention, a search was conducted. Police confirmed the seizure of a ninja sword, which is classified as an offensive weapon.

In addition to the weapon, officers also recovered Class-B drugs, a large quantity of cash, and a mobile phone believed to be connected to drug dealing.

The 14-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including:

  • Possession of an offensive weapon
  • Possession of Class-B drugs
  • Possession of Class-B drugs with intent to supply

The second boy involved in the incident was released at the scene. The arrested teenager continues to be held for questioning.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police reiterated the force's commitment to Project Guardian, a taskforce dedicated to reducing knife crime and youth violence through a mixture of tactics, from high-visibility patrols to plain-clothed operations.
