Broad Street Bar Attacker Jailed After Gun Found in Solihull

West Midlands Police have released the mugshot of Keane Carter, a 25-year-old from Solihull, who was wanted in connection with a violent assault at a bar on Broad Street in Birmingham city centre. During a warrant execution at his home in Pendrell Close, Fordbridge, officers made a shocking discovery: a sawn-off shotgun along with 13 cartridges.

Assault and Investigation

The attack occurred last September, when Carter assaulted a man at a Broad Street bar, leaving the victim with serious head injuries. Investigators conducted extensive CCTV inquiries, which led them to identify Carter as the offender. The assault charge was later reduced to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

Firearms Discovery

On November 21, while officers from the Solihull Police Community Team were searching Carter's address, they uncovered the sawn-off shotgun and ammunition. The discovery added firearms offences to the charges against him.

Legal Proceedings

Carter was arrested and subsequently charged. In January, he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm, and in February, he pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. At Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday, May 21, he was sentenced to five years and 11 months in prison.

West Midlands Police have emphasized the seriousness of the offences and the importance of community safety. The case highlights the effectiveness of CCTV investigations and proactive policing in removing dangerous weapons from the streets.
