A violent burglar who repeatedly stabbed a complete stranger in his own home has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Details of the horrific attack
Jordan Williamson, 32, carried out a vicious assault on a man he did not know in the victim's house on Congleton Road, Biddulph. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 15 this year, with emergency services alerted at 1.10am.
During the horrific break-in, Williamson used a knife to attack the resident, inflicting life-changing wounds to his head, chest, and back. The victim's wife was also present during the ordeal.
Arrest and court proceedings
Police officers arrested Williamson, of Congleton, Cheshire, at the scene. He was charged the following day. At Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday, December 15, he was handed his lengthy prison term.
Williamson had previously pleaded guilty to attempted murder at an earlier hearing. He also admitted to:
- Possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
- Affray.
- Assault by beating of an emergency worker.
Police praise victim's bravery
Detective Constable Tracey Gascoine, of CID North, led the investigation. She commended the incredible courage shown by the victim and his wife throughout the process.
"This was a vicious attack on a man inside his own home. He didn’t know Williamson," said DC Gascoine. "We worked hard to bring Williamson to justice and I hope today’s sentence goes some way to providing some comfort to the victim and his family."
The couple have been supported by specially-trained officers since the traumatic event. The court's decision marks the end of a harrowing chapter for the family, ensuring a dangerous individual is behind bars.
