Staffordshire Police have released CCTV images of three men they want to speak to after a red Fiat Abarth was stolen from a street in Tamworth and later recovered on false plates more than 20 miles away.
The car was taken from Ninefoot Lane, which runs alongside Ninefoot Park in the Wilnecote area of Tamworth, at approximately 7.40pm on Wednesday 22 July. It was subsequently spotted in the Brownhills area of Walsall before being found in Hednesford, Cannock, on Friday 31 July.
Police release images of three men
In a statement, a Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information after a car was stolen from Tamworth. A red Fiat Abarth was reported stolen from Ninefoot Lane at around 7.40pm on Wednesday 22 July. It was later seen in the Brownhills area before being recovered on false plates in Hednesford on Friday (31 July).”
The force has now released four images showing three individuals who may hold vital information about the theft.
Description of the first man
The first man is described as white, with a goatee beard and short, dark hair. He was wearing a light grey hoodie at the time of the incident.
Second man sought by police
The second individual is also white, with short fair hair and is clean-shaven. His image was captured on CCTV and released by officers in the hope that someone will recognise him.
Third man pictured in black top
The third man is white, with short, light brown hair and a moustache. He is pictured wearing a black, long-sleeved top – possibly a North Face brand – over a white t-shirt.

The spokesperson added: “We have reviewed CCTV footage of the area at the time of the theft and are releasing images of individuals we would like to speak to. Anyone who recognises these men or knows of their whereabouts should call us on 101 or use Live Chat on our website quoting incident number 011 of 23 July. The theft has prompted renewed calls for residents in the Wilnecote area to remain vigilant and secure their vehicles, especially when parking near communal green spaces. The Fiat Abarth is a performance model known for its distinctive styling and is popular among enthusiasts, which may make it a target for thieves.
Police have not confirmed whether the car has been damaged or if any property was taken from inside. The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are keen to trace the movements of the vehicle between the theft and its recovery.
