Carjackers Steal BMW After Attacking Owner in Newcastle

A vicious carjacking took place on a Midland driveway, with a car owner attacked before the robbers fled in his vehicle. The incident occurred in the Westlands area of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, on Friday, June 12.

Details of the Attack

The BMW driver was at a property off Seabridge Lane in the Westlands area shortly after 4:30am when he was assaulted. Thieves then stole his BMW X6M from his driveway. The man suffered minor facial injuries in the assault.

Recovery of the Vehicle

The car was recovered, abandoned, at around 5am by the Road Crime Team on Cliffe Street in Smallthorne, to the north of Stoke-on-Trent. Staffordshire Police is now appealing for help to trace the robbers.

Police Appeal

In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information after a car was stolen from a man in Newcastle-under-Lyme. We were called at 4:40am on Friday (June 12) to a property off Seabridge Lane in the Westlands area following reports of aggravated burglary. A man reported that his BMW X6M had been stolen off his driveway. The suspects assaulted the victim before making off in the car in the direction of Stoke-on-Trent.”

The suspects are described as each under 25 years old, wearing all black clothing, and one of the men was around 5ft 8 to 10ins tall.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries locally and are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Cliffe Street this morning.
