West Midlands Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to following a fuel theft at a garage in Tyseley, Birmingham. The incident occurred at the EG On the Move petrol station on Battery Way on Saturday, May 9.
Shortly after 6pm, a motorist pulled up to the pumps, filled their vehicle with petrol, and then drove off without making payment – an offence commonly known as bilking. Officers have now issued an appeal to trace the individual captured on CCTV.
Description of the suspect
The man in the image is described as white, with short, dark hair shaved at the sides and a beard. He was wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, and black shoes at the time of the incident.
Police acknowledge that the image is not the clearest, but they hope someone may recognise him from the distinctive features and clothing.
Appeal from West Midlands Police
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Do you recognise this man? We would like to speak to him following an incident of bilking where a vehicle pulled onto the forecourt, filled up with petrol and then left without payment.”
They added: “The incident took place shortly after 6pm, on 9 May, at the petrol garage on Battery Way, Birmingham. We realise it isn’t the clearest picture, but we hope someone may recognise him.”
