Katie Fox Stabbing: James Brindley Foundation's Poignant Knife Crime Plea
Charity's poignant message after Katie Fox stabbing death

The family of a man tragically killed in a knife attack eight years ago has delivered a poignant message of solidarity to the loved ones of Katie Fox, who died following a stabbing in Birmingham city centre.

A Legacy Forged From Tragedy

James Brindley, a 26-year-old man, was walking home after an evening with friends in Aldridge town centre on June 23, 2017, when he was confronted and fatally stabbed by Ammar Kahrod, who was aged 17 at the time. In the wake of their devastating loss, James's family channeled their grief into action by establishing The James Brindley Foundation.

The charity works tirelessly to tackle the deep-rooted issues of knife crime and youth violence across communities. On Monday, the foundation turned its attention to another family facing a similar nightmare, reaching out with support following the death of Katie Fox.

A Message of Support and Solidarity

Katie Fox, 34, from Rednal, was stabbed on Smallbrook Queensway in Birmingham city centre last Friday evening. The attack occurred shortly before 9pm, and despite being rushed to hospital with a serious neck injury, she tragically passed away.

In a heartfelt statement, The James Brindley Foundation expressed its profound sadness. "We are deeply saddened to learn that Katie Fox, the 34-year-old victim of the Birmingham knife attack last Friday evening, has passed away," the statement read.

"Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her during this profoundly difficult time." The foundation also extended its support to members of the public who witnessed the traumatic event and the emergency services who responded under immense pressure.

A Stark Reminder of the Work Ahead

The foundation's message contained a powerful and universal plea, stating, "No family should ever have to endure such a devastating loss." It emphasised that such incidents act as a stark reminder of the critical and ongoing battle against violence.

The statement concluded with a call for continued effort, highlighting the urgent need to prevent violence, support safer communities, and ensure those affected by such crimes receive the support they need and are not left to cope alone.

West Midlands Police confirmed the tragic outcome, noting that specially trained officers are supporting Katie Fox's family. The investigation into the fatal stabbing continues as the community grapples with another life lost to knife crime.
